Default SRS to get 3,000 jobs and $1.6 Billion

4,000 jobs coming to the NSA. Now 3,000 jobs coming to SRS. The expansion of MCG and the rest of the medical district. Creates thousands of other jobs. Metro Augusta is growing up more and more.
SRS getting $1.615 billion
Savannah River Site will receive $1.615 billion from President Obama’s economic stimulus package, according to U.S. Energy Secretary Stephen Chu.

The allocation, which will create about 3,000 jobs and speed up cleanup of contaminated areas, is part of $6 billion in environmental funding that will be distributed to similar sites in 12 states.

Amen.. especially the housing market. If lending eases up I feel that Augusta's housing market is set to go higher!

Plant Vogtle is slated to expand, doubling in size to four reactors. That job will employ MANY people currently unemployed in our area, and beyond.

Actually, there are a few people that commute a fairly good distance to get to Plant Vogtle everyday. I was out there several months ago speaking with the guard at the gate, awaiting my clearance to enter the plant, and he told me that there was a person that drives from Sandersville every day.

Imagine that drive to just get to work!

There are plenty of people doing the same at SRS also

We're gonna need those jobs considering the unemployment rate is almost 10%. Unfortunately we have lost more jobs than we have gained over the last 6 months... hence the high unemployment rate. Hopefully that money will get here soon so ppl can get hired quickly.
