Augusta is more in the league of Macon, Columbus, Montgomery, Fayetteville, NC.. I would say Augusta is ahead of those cities most definately... but it is not and will not be ahead of Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston

Norton, you have yet to back up your theory. How do you pass an area in growth when its adding more people every year? Thats a simple question. Anything else you post other than answering this question is hogwash and you're keeping yourself in a dream land. You can't pass it until you add more people than it does and make up a lot of ground. And these areas are still adding more people annually than Augusta. A lot more people. Oh, and by the way the Greenville msa is actually 624k not including Spartanburg and Anderson which are likely to be added back this census making it 1.2 million+. If your going to post info post it right.

Even if they did build a new arena, it still would do as successful to its full potential. Atlanta is still near by, and many of the huge acts play in big markets (as opposed to the 60s-80s when a mid-sized could get to see a decent show). Plus, you would have to do talks with a reputable company that would agree to own the place.
Although I must saw, the new arena in Charlottesville has brought a good amount of act into the city.

There's many more I could post but don't have to because everybody knows Greenville is bigger than Augusta and is gaining more people too. Your city doesn't even have a Costco. Even Spartanburg has one of those.

Provide a link that says Metro Augusta has lost people. Because that's certainly false. Metro Augusta has NEVER lost people. We gained the second most people in the state behind metro Atlanta. From the latest statistics 2007-2008. Savannah came in third
And Greenville doesn't have Imax or Sephora. Augusta has both.
If census don't lie please show us. Why did metro AUGUSTA gained the second most in the state from 2007-2008. If you claim Metro Augusta is losing people.

Augusta doesn't have Costco, Pottery Barn, Ruth's Chris, Whole Foods Market, Bare Escentuals, BCBG Max Azria, Chipotle, etc. We're getting an IMAX at Hollywood 20 this year. Census says Richmond County has lost population. Isn't that part of metro Augusta?

By 2015 Augusta will be on another level. As you can see with over 20,000 new jobs. High paying and tech jobs most of them. We are poised for a influx of new residents. From out of state or out of town. More jobs are going to come also. The SC big three is not outpacing Augusta like Raleigh or Richmond.
From 2007-2008 # of new people
Charleston 14,000- 644,000 metro
Columbia 12,000-728,000
Greenville 12,000-624,000
Augusta 6,000-535,000
Savannah 5,000- 334,000
Chattanooga 4,000-518,000
http://www.census.gov/popest/metro/t...EST2008-05.xls
2010-2015 is going to look alot diffrent.
