Jobs in Augusta?
My husband lost his job here in Dawsonville, GA. and he has been looking for one in Atlanta but hasn't had any luck. He has worked in the manufacturing setting for about 20 some yrs. He has another job but it is in Michigan and we don't want to move there. It is so hard for us to move right now, we can't sell our house and our daughter is starting college this fall. My husband needs a job sooooo bad. If he could find one there it would still not be ideal but it would help. He could go down for the week and come home on weekends. Not a GREAT solution but better than moving to Michigan. We might even be able to rent the house and then live there. If you can help us please let me know. My huband has an excellent resume and excellent work history. He has a CIS degree and he has completed more than half of his MBA at Georgia State. He had to quit his MBA to find another job. I can't tell you how desperate this situation is!

Ok little city, Im back. For the record Augusta>g-ville and Richmond county<Greenville County. If ya'll want to, just copy and paste the info from city-data. Previously, someone said that Augusta was trying to build what little city already had. Greenville built the downtown ballpark because their Municipal ballpark was so bad that they lost their team. Citizens of g-ville paid for the park. But the Drive paid for the recent upgrades. In return they got the Columbia, SC bombers, now the greenville drive. Rather than upgrade their existing stadium like Augusta, they built their team a new one. Hahahahahaha. FYI g-ville, Augusta doesn't need a new stadium. The reason why our Mayor wants a new stadium downtown is because he wants to increase foot traffic in hopes that even more businesses will come to downtown Augusta. That should be simple enough.

You can dissect it all you want to. Greenville is bigger, better, and all around wealthier. Like I said I'm familiar with both areas, as I've spent time in both. Augusta is more gritty feeling than Greenville and the downtown area is dead. Greenville's leadership is better. Its Greenville hands down. Augusta can't compete. I have cousins in Augusta and they even said Greenville feels cleaner and bigger. The numbers don't back your post nor is their a fan base other than the Augusta boosters that live n Augusta. More people move to the Greenville area than Augusta area every year, that speaks volumes. So why is this if Augusta is better? You can dress up a criminal and say as much as you want to make him look better, but when you look his record it tells the whole story. Samething with these numbers.

Mono you must haven't seen downtown Augusta lately? Plenty of new shops and restaurants in the last few years. I think you need to visit. When you see all the construction. You 'll see what im talking about. People are walking up and down broad all day. Along with people biking downtown. I have visited Greenville, Charleston, and of course 1hr away Columbia.
Face it 20,000 jobs in Augusta> 2,800 in Greenville
unemployment rate 8.5% Augusta> 9.5% Greenville
Numbers don't lie.

I would check Careerbuilder, monster, yahoo, etc. To see exactly what companies are hiring. Then fill out in person or online on the company website. Here are some companies that are hiring. Husqvarna, Lawson Products, Kellogs, Procter & Gamble, ADP, T-Mobile, The Judge Group Inc.
I wish you posted earlier. Because SRS just had a big job fair in Aiken you missed. But their is one in Columbia tomorrow.
A job fair associated with Savannah River Site’s $1.6 billion in American Recovery & Reinvestment Act funds will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Midlands Technical College, 151 Powell Road, Columbia, S.C. The event will be held in Bay 2, Hall 6-B and the public is welcome.
Earlier in the day, beginning at 10: 30 a.m., vendors who conduct business at the site and others may attend an open briefing on job opportunities in which Congressman James Clyburn, Department of Energy/Savannah River site manager Jeff Allison and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions President Chuck Munns will discuss spending of stimulus funds.
That briefing will be at Midland Tech auditorium. An SRS spokeswoman said additional job fairs will be scheduled in coming months in locations around the Central Savannah River Area. For more employment information, visit www.srs.gov.
Good luck & I hope your husband finds a job.

First off when you address me use the right name and show some respect. I'm going to end this once and for all. Stop dissecting, act business like, and answer these questions directly.
Why does the Greenville area without Spartanburg and Anderson have a higher GDP?
Why are more people moving to the Greenville area every year?
Why does Greenville have higher income when looking at city, county, or msa numbers?
Why is it that the Greenville forum is around 2500 in topics and Augusta hasn't reached 1000 yet?
Just a few questions that tell the overall picture. So answer these please in a professional manner. If you can't answer these I won't debate you anymore, because you've turned it into something childish.

Anderson & Spartanburg are not in G-Ville MSA. Your GDP is barely higher bc your MSA is 80,000 more ppl.
6,000 more people moved to Greenville than Augusta. From 2007-2008. Not alot more
Greenville county is $10,000 higher than Richmond county. 10,000 dollars is not alot.
Okay you win on citydata topics

My turn
Why is Augusta unemployment rate lower than Greenville?
Why can I named +20,000 new jobs in Augusta. Off the top of my head. You and g-man can only named 2,800 including walmart jobs?
Why was Augusta 5th in the southeast for new construction. From 2007-2008 and G-ville wasn['t even in the top 10?
Why by 2015 Augusta will have past Columbia and Greenville?

Ok, you still didn't answer my questions. Stop dissecting and look at the overall picture which is GDP. Is yours higher? I will go back to this until you answer it. I won't answer anything until you answer the questions above that show the overall picture. I don't have to dissect anything when I have overall GDP numbers.

The Augusta market has landed in a construction magazine's top 10 list for Southeastern construction spending. The metro area's construction spending surge 379 percent last year, helping the area place No. 5 in Southeast Construction 's ranking in its February issue.
Augusta during an 11-month period in 2007 vaulted above larger Southeastern markets Jacksonville, Raleigh, and Tampa,
1. Atlanta 13.9 billion
2. Miami
3. Orlando
4. Charlotte
5. Augusta 5.01 billion
6. Jacksonville
7. Raleigh
8. Tampa
Augusta is number 5 behind Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, and Charlotte. Mayor Deke Copenhaver centered his state of the city speech around the growth in Augusta. With ADP, T-Mobile, the Augusta Mall, and I-20 all topping his list of major projects.
Augusta gets high ranking for growth
