Augusta is still light years behind Norton. You can pick all of the straws you want. Greenville still has a higher population and GDP. Why do you keep ignoring this overall number and instead choose to pick straws. Its time consuming. There are some really big things Augusta is missing like a real arena, a true convention center, Amtrak, do I need to continue?

What do the ppl in Augusta think. Do you think the sales tax in May will be larger or smaller than April's $9 million?

I guess you missed this article today that explained the higher than usual sales tax numbers... It had nothing to do with higher than usual retail sales but with the timing of how things were accounted for the previous months. Several counties saw this same blip.

I can't wait for 2010-2011. When alot of these jobs kick in, What a sight to behold in Augusta. Augusta unemployment rate will drop from 8.5 to a lower number quick. ADP & T-Mobile still don't have a full staff yet. American tire should be open in a couple of months. The NSA 4,000 jobs start next year. Most of SRS jobs start the later months of this year and the rest next year. WOW BABY WOW!

Well, of course their unemployment rate will drop along with most other areas due to the recession easing and stimulus starting to create jobs. OMG...A tire store. I can't wait. Let's throw a party. So, how about that watermarke project downtown?

Unemployment is still higher than it was this time last year.. for most places, not just Augusta. There has been a net LOSS of jobs overall in Augusta, and in most cities throughout the country. So if we were to believe Nortonguy's jobs numbers that he keeps posting, then Augusta should have an unemployement rate of less than 3% instead of 8.5%.

G-man its not a tire store. Its a tire plant which opens later this year.
Why would Augusta unemployment rate be 3%. When most of the jobs haven't even started yet.
SRS is just having job fairs now. So those won''t kick in until later this year and next year.
The NSA doesn't open until next year. 4,000 jobs are coming in 2010
The medical district dental & medical school, medical commons, and cancer research center don't open until 2010-2011.
T-mobile is not at 800 yet.
ADP just open about two weeks about. So there is no way their close to 1000 employees yet.
