Metro Augusta has never lost population once.

In 2000 Augusta MSA was about 493,000. In 2007- 2008 its 535,000. Augusta was second in the state from 2007-2008 for the most new people behind Atlanta.
So I don't know where you got our MSA lost population from 2000-2007. Because that's totally false.

Excuse me. Augusta-Richmond County lost population from 2000-2007. Is that better? And 535k is not a large msa as mentioned in a previous post. Its mid-sized at best guys.

I would say a large metro would be anything with a million plus ppl. The only ones nearby would be Atlanta and Charlotte... and Greenville-Spartanburg (if you count it as one metro area).
The only metro area in Georgia that can be said to be "Booming" is Atlanta.. it consistently has double digit population growth.. often exceeding 20%. Most other places in Georgia outside metro Atlanta and northeast GA have growth rates at best around 7% or less.. Even growth in Columbia and Aiken county has significantly slowed into single digits. Richmond County is at an equilibrium state with growth less than a half of a percent (but hey, atleast its not losing any more ppl like it was for nearly 8 years).
Metro Augusta falls almost exactly in the midrange of the nation's metro areas. I think overall Augusta has more positives than negatives and is a good, inexpensive city to raise a family. It's not Atlanta or Charlotte, and that's sort of the point isn't it? But those larger cities are within an easy drive for any big city entertainment and shopping that cannot be found in Augusta. There's really no reason to portray Augusta as something it is not. I know few ppl here who would want Augusta to resemble Atlanta.

The city limits have gained every year in population since 2005-2006.

The future of Augusta is very bright indeed. The economy will have doubled over the next five years. Thousands of jobs are coming to the area. Including SRS, NSA, ADP, & Plant Vogtle.

That growth is very small compared to other peer cities and it still hasn't recovered the population its lost since the 2000 census.

You love to talk but you never provide any links. Who cares about other peer cities. Its 2009 who cares about 2000. Richmond county and the city limits are higher in 2009 than they were in 2000. This is getting old. If somebody makes a thread on Augusta. You don't have to get off topic. Or start to compare it to other cities. Especially when you haven't provided not one link the entire thread. To back up your claims and post.
