Can you post a link. Because you haven't posted a link once to back up your claiims. Show me a link that says metro greenville has a lower rate of crime. And metro Greenville GDP is twice of metro Augusta.

Well, size of GDP doesn't necessarily give you an accurate measurement of how the local economy is doing. Metro Detroit's GDP was about $200 billion in 2005, and there is no telling what the GDP is now since the economy there is in pretty bad shape.

Augusta has unemployment rate of 8.5%
Greenville 9.5%
That's why you guys shouldn't come on here and brag. Your economy is not better in 2009. Augusta is moving into the future.

I'm looking for the figures now, unless you care to show which site your getting those numbers from. On bea.gov, it only gives accounts up to 2006 and it says this--------first the disclaimer------
Today is 05/30/2009. Next release date: September 2009.
On September 25, 2008, the BEA released new estimates of GDP by metropolitan area for 2006 and revised estimates for 2004-2005. This release provided both current-dollar and real (chained-dollar) GDP estimates for 363 metropolitan areas, 61 detailed industries for each area. All of the estimates are retrievable from this page. You will also find links to the news release and a forthcoming Survey of Current Business article.
The estimates are based on county earnings by industry estimates from BEA's local area personal income accounts released April 24, 2008 and on the GDP-by-state estimates released June 5, 2008. County earnings data are not available prior to 2001 on a NAICS basis. Therefore, the reference (or base) year for the real (chained-dollar) estimates is 2001.
To retrieve and display the desired estimates, please follow steps 1 through 5 to specify one or more GDP-by-metropolitan-area components, metropolitan areas, industries, and years in the appropriate list boxes. Then specify the format in which the estimates will be displayed on your screen. ---------Real GDP by Metropolitan Area (millions of chained 2001 dollars)
All industry total
Greenville-Mauldin-Easley, SC (MSA) [24860] 2006-20,558
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Real GDP by Metropolitan Area (millions of chained 2001 dollars)
All industry total
Augusta-Richmond County, GA-SC (MSA) [12260] 2006-14,073

Everybody just shut up about this and move on. Who cares who has the lower unemployment, higher GDP, or whatever. I sure don't.

To end this once and for all with facts:
Augusta has a lower unemployment rate than Greenville (US Department of Labor)
Greenville has a higher GDP rate than Augusta (US Bureau of Economic Analysis )
Can we end this stupid nonsense now please?

G-man, you helped start this. What good is an arena, zoo, or ballpark if the citizens that was taxed to build it can't affford to enjoy it?

Who says we can't afford it? I personally make 70k+ a year and rising. The average income in my area(Simpsonville) is around 55k. Thats a lot higher than Augusta. Greenville isn't hurting and we already have everything you guys are "trying" to build and we are still building. I'm familiar with Augusta, trust me when I say Greenville has more stuff. Want to know which area most on city-data prefer? Start a poll in a neutral forum, but I say each city's forum numbers already tell that story because that's the city people are inquiring about.. Greenville simply is a nicer city with more amenties and more money flowing through it. Does it matter if your unemployment rate is lower if people are making next to minimum wage? Just a question.

Oh, and actually GDP does pretty much tell the whole story when you're comparing similar sized cities. Compare Detriot to a city similar in size, not mid sized cities and you will see. Compare it to lets say Atlanta and tell me what you see.
