White Water Course to open in one month
White Water Course on the third level of the Canal. 2-3 mile course. It will soon be a place for canoeing, kayaking, and even floating on an intertube.
The course starts across from the Sacred Heart Cultural Center under the Calhoun Expressway. It's a nice slow ride, and then once you get to Enterprise Mill it picks up and takes you under Broad Street and down a three foot fall to Hawks Cove where it ends at the Savannah River.
"I mean just look at it. It's one of a kind. You've got these old bridges. Some of them are hundreds of years old. You float underneath them, and there's nothing like this in the world probably. They started building this canal in the 1800s, and they did it with shovels and buckets," Mike Stacy said.
The White Water Course should be open to the public in a month. It costs $25 to rent a canoe or kayak from the Augusta Riverwalk Marina, or you can bring your own and you don't have to pay anything.

Scott Hudson and his group of volunteers. Should be thanked for their hard work. The course was done at no cost to taxpayers.

That sounds pretty cool, wonder if there will be a shuttle to take you back to the beginning.

That is awesome! That First Saturday Crew has done some great stuff! I hope that this sort of thing continues... It will be fun when friends come to visit to take them on that course.

Has this course opened? I haven't heard anything further about it and news searches turn up nothing new. I would love to try this if I had more information about it. I even have my own kayak.
