There are over 20,000 jobs coming to the Augusta area. By the year 2015.
SRS 7,000 (2009-2010)
NSA 4,000 low estimate (2010)
Plant Vogtle 5,000 (2012-2013)
School of Dentistry, School of Medicine, Medical Commons, Cancer Research Center thousands of jobs (2010-2011)
Keep in mind. I didn't include several jobs lined up for 2009.

Can't judge population growth by this. Every city is adding jobs.

The Palmetto Pkwy in North Augusta. Will help speed up the growth between Columbia and Augusta. West Columbia, Aiken, Lexington, and North Augusta are all growing. Aiken and Lexington county together. Is a little over 400,000 people. So the population is already there. I hope the Palmetto Pkwy is similar. To the interchange in Richmond county. With the large flyovers in close range of each other.

Norton, you keep saying stuff as if you are with the census bureau. This is speculating at its best, which is fine; but don't sit yourself up for disappointment.

The best prediction would be to look at past trends of growth. I saw that growth in Columbia County has really slowed a lot. A friend of mine is a builder out in Evans and he was barely able to keep up with the growth before in Evans.. but now he tells me things have really slowed and he has no new subdivisions in the planning stages. I think it will take 5 years for this economy to fully recover.. until that happnes, I just don't think you are going to see any big growth. There will be growth, but somewhere below 3%.

Aiken County would take some of Lex-County population. That would definitly bridge the gap between Augusta and Columbia.

Those 5000 jobs are for the construction for Vogtle 3 & 4. They will ramp up starting soon. Then they should all go away by 2015/2016. After that there should be about 800-1000 new permanent jobs at Plant Vogtle.

The Vogtle jobs will boom residential growth. In South Augusta, Hephzibah, Blythe, Mcbean, Keysville, Waynesboro, Wrens, Louisville etc. The counties between Augusta and Savannah will be impacted. Jenkins county comes mind.
