Actually this was my quote

''Metro Augusta I would think has the second highest percentage of hispanics''.

Richmond county is only one county in metro Augusta. Mcduffie, Aiken, Edgefield, Burke, Columbia are in the metro too. Augusta and Atlanta are the only cities who have a hispanic festival every year.

I agree Outdoorman.. it is pretty pointless when we have only 2.8% hispanic population . Where is the hispanic business district?.. the mercados?, panaderias? And we are not counting Tex-Mex restaurants.

I keep telling you Augusta is not just Richmond county. Mcduffie, Burke, Aiken, Columbia, and Edgefield too. Richmond county hispanic population maybe 3%.

When people mention Atlanta's hispanic population, its not just the city of Atlanta but metro Atlanta.

The percentage of hispanics would be below the national average in Richmond county. RC simply does not have the incentive for job growth or lifestyle fulfillment that most modern day legal and illegal hispanics are desperately looking for, outside of pushing plates in Mexican restaurants or working under the table for construction jobbers and peanuts. As with so many other folks looking for progress and quality of life, regardless of ethnicity, those who are fortunate enough to have the means or the opportunity quickly exit Richmond county. If you think this is just me, look up the census data regarding the exodus of 10,000 employable heads from the area between 1997 and 2007, which was replaced by a population segment composed in 80% by newborn children of unwed mothers. I'm not just quoting stats, I'm a hispanic arrival to the area who after 2 break-ins and 1 unwarranted car vandalism quickly made a beeline for Columbia county. It's costing me big time but it's worth the peace of mind. Many like me are also waiting for the economy to improve to head for greener pastures.
