The National Security Agency in Ft. Gordon is a blessing to Augusta. Employing over 4,000 people and opening in 2010. Its a huge factor in the new neighborhoods popping up in Richmond county and the metro area. Not to mention, the $600 million being pumped into the Medical District. The NSA will affect the metro area of Augusta and the CSRA. New retail, offices, restaurants, and subdivisions in every county of Augusta.

SHELL BLUFF, Ga. --- Workers at Plant Vogtle are toiling 20 hours a day to accelerate progress on what is likely to become the nation's first new commercial reactor project in decades.

Once online, the new reactors will roughly double the site's 850-person work force to 1,700. During the peak of construction, expected to occur in 2013-14, about 3,000 to 3,500 workers will be employed.

MCG's Dental school broke ground today. A Medical commons and School of Medicine is still planned on the same site.

The $112 million, five-story building will have nearly 270,000 square feet of space, enough to accommodate much larger clinics that can easily handle modern technology that now must be juggled in a building that opened in 1970. It will also allow the school to expand from its current enrollment of 63 to 100 by 2016.

MCG's School of Dentistry to break ground

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue, Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr. and Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver are set to appear.
