Southside of Metro Augusta
Hi. My wife and I are currently living outside of Memphis. We plan to relocate to Augusta, GA. Where should we look for a place to live? Somewhere in a 40 minute commute hopefully. My wife will be employed at Augusta Regional, and I have a job offer in Waynesboro. Any help would be great. We are looking for an home in the 280k price range. Thanks again!

South Augusta and Hephzibah in South Richmond county. Along with Waynesboro in Burke county are the largest cities/areas. South Augusta 90,000 people. Hephzibah 5,300 ppl. Waynesboro 6,500 ppl. Other cities/areas all in South Richmond include Blythe, Gracewood, Diamond Lakes, Goshen, & Mcbean. The nicer areas in South Augusta are Tobacco rd and back. Tobacco rd and back is going towards the city limits of Hephzibah. Developers are building plenty of new homes in the Hephzibah area. Several subdivisions starting at 200k. The median income in Hephzibah is 45k. 35,000 people live in zip code 30815. Hephzibah is trying to transform from rural to suburbia. Waynesboro is a small town who is going to boom because of plant vogtle coming to burke county. 5,000 jobs coming to the plant. Mcbean is a 600 person rural area adjacent to Hephzibah. Blythe is a city of 1,000 people. Blythe has its own goverment and schools. Blythe is further out than Hephzibah closer to Burke county. Gracewood is a big community. Diamond Lakes is a enclosed park of subdivisions and amenities. Goshen offers a nice mix of townhomes and homes. A nice golf course is located in Goshen.

Hephzibah hands down. Good schools, low crime, quiet & peaceful, no traffic, and nice parks. The commute to Waynesboro and the airport is 15-20 minutes. Check out the neighborhoods on Old Waynesboro rd, Brown rd and Willis Foreman road.
Arcadia, Lakes at Spirit Creek, Spread Oak, Walker Hill, Oakridge Plantation, Orchard Hill, and Manchester are nice newer subdivisions in Hephzibah.

I agree with Hephzibah for the best choice. There were some new homes being built at Hwy 25/88 maybe someone else has recommended this already, but that would be a good place to start looking. You could be at work in Waynesboro in 15 minutes max, 4 lane road all the way with moderate traffic.

I just noticed that you are moving from Memphis. You will like what you see here as far as low crime, nicer living.

Hepzibah is a better choice than South Augusta, lower crime and cleaner.
