Default Aiken vs. Evans vs. West Augusta

I'm trying to find a upscale townhome/apartment in either Aiken, Evans or West Augusta. I want to live in the vicinity of dining & shopping. What is the difference between the cities? I can afford $1100....

Each place feels diffrent and offers a seperate vibe. It depends on what you're looking for.

Aiken's downtown is nice with quaint shops..
Evans will seem to be totally suburban.
West Augusta can be suburban or urban.

New townhomes are on Claussen road. West Wheeler pkwy and perimeter pkwy are fast growing West Augusta residential areas. I would choose west wheeler pkwy/wheeler rd/ perimeter pkwy/walton way ext area in West Augusta. Apartments and townhomes are available. The areas border & semi-circle I-20/I-520. Claussen rd & Riverwatch pkwy townhomes in West Augusta are nice as well.

A wider selection of upscale condo-apartments-townhomes are available in West Augusta. In regards to West Augusta, Saint Andrews- Brigham Woods- Century Glen- Century Hills. In Aiken I'd look at The Haven At Market Street Station & Verandas On The Green. Evans gives you Ansley At Town Center & Walden Glen.

A single or young person definitely would like West Augusta better. Somewhere near or in downtown is better for singles/young people in my opinion than all three. Olde Town and Artist Row are trendy/hip areas downtown to live. Olde Town has several MCG, Paine, and ASU students living there. When it comes to raising a family, West Augusta, Aiken, and Evans are all fine choices.

West Augusta & Evans are not officially cities. Aiken is the only real city. West Augusta refers to the western portion of Richmond county. Evans is a CDP in Columbia county.

Some people in the area have made some talk. Where West Augusta would pull a John's Creek in five years. John's Creek broke away from the city of Atlanta. West Augusta does fit the bill of affluent and majority white. John's Creek formed its own city in North Fulton. Evans tried at one time to incoporate into a city. It died down quickly. The Martinez area of Columbia county is also unincoporated. They would have had to changed the name. Everybody considers Martinez and Evans as two diffrent places. It wouldn't have work..

Either place can fit your criteria. The three cities do have the worst traffic though. West Augusta's traffic is horrible. Wheeler rd, Washington rd, and Wrightsboro are not the place to be after 5pm.
