Who can you picture becoming its own city first? W. Augusta, Martinez, or Evans

Some people in the area have made some talk. Where West Augusta would pull a John's Creek in five years. John's Creek broke away from the city of Atlanta. West Augusta does fit the bill of affluent and majority white. John's Creek formed its own city in North Fulton. West Augusta could form its own city in West Richmond. Unincoporated Columbia county tried at one time to incoporate into a city. It died down quickly. The Martinez and Evans areas of Columbia county are unincoporated. They would have had to changed the name. Everybody considers Martinez and Evans as two diffrent places. It wouldn't have work.. Next time you know they will try incoporation diffrent. I see Martinez and Evans being its own city.

I doubt West Augusta breaks away. It could happen but highly doubtful. Augusta city govt is run by black and whites. The Mayor and sheriff are white. The superintendent and mayor pro-tem are black. Atlanta is run by majority blacks. Some white's do feel more comfortable. Having representation that resembles them. The city goverment is usually liberal compared to moderate and conservative burbs. Both play a big part in areas forming their own city.

Evans or Martinez. You can bet Richmond county will fight West Augusta. In order to stop them from leaving the city.

Correction - Johns Creek did NOT break away from the City of Atlanta. There are three separate cities between them, being Alpharetta, Roswell & Sandy Springs. Atlanta has not been able to annex anything North of its Northernmost border since the 50's.

Johns Creek residents voted to incorporate an area that was previously unicorporated far Northern Fulton County.

I certainly hope not. Richmond county doesn't need anymore cities.

We already have Augusta, Hephzibah, and Blythe.

The city of Augusta is broke down into South Augusta, West Augusta, East Augusta and Downtown

Downtown is broken down into Harrisburg, Laney Walker, CBD, Bethlehem, Medical District, Paine College, Olde Town, and Artist row.

People in richmond county call Gracewood, Belair, Diamond Lakes, Hill/Summerville, Goshen, Mcbean, Lake Aumond, National Hills, etc their own places.

If West Augusta form its own city. There would be a domino effect.
