We're visiting my brother in Evans for Christmas. Does anybody know of a local motel that accepts small dogs? We're looking for a one-story mom & pop place, rather than a chain.

Thanks for any help!

You could try Dog, Cat & Other Pet Friendly Hotels at Petswelcome.com, but they probably just list chains. Enjoy your visit!

We moved here in June with our 4 cats and stayed at Candlewood Suites. They have a full kitchen with a two burner cooktop (no oven) which is why we chose them over other pet friendly hotels. We also had a separate bedroom and the kids had the sofabed in the living room. I know it's a chain, but we were generally satisfied. Good luck!

Thanks for all your input, everybody! I had a zillion tabs going at once, comparing the pet-friendly websites to the ones with comments. I was even willing to go to a chain and traipse the dogs up & down halls & elevators. This is what I discovered: There is no reasonably priced, decent, pet-friendly place within 20 minutes of Evans! (Candlewood wanted a $75 non-refundable pet deposit!) Unfortunately, $200+ a night is more than I'm willing to spend for an average motel room, so we won't be going.
I can't believe with the Masters there, there aren't better options.

Yes, we did have to pay a deposit with Candlewood, but since this was move related our expenses were reimbursed. Sorry you were unable to find something suitable. Better luck next time!

The La Quinta on Washington road is close to Evans, reasonably priced (well under $100 a night), and they don't charge for pets. They even have a semi-decent breakfast included. I know you said you wanted a mom and pop place, but 1. there aren't many around, and 2. most of them don't want to bother with other people's animals unless you make it financially worth their while.

Thanks, kat.

We stayed at that LaQuinta years ago, but my brother said it had gotten a bit dodgey.

We stayed there almost 3 years ago, and live on the SC side... never go to Augusta if we can help it, so don't really know how dodgy it is. Of course, it isn't the Hilton, it is an interstate area motel. By definition, the interstate sort of location has always been a bit dodgy.
