What is the situation with the downtown ballpark for the Green Jackets? Is the issue still being studied?

The stadium is a done deal. Cal ripken jr, Mayor Deke, and Gov. Perdue are all behind the project. The mayor also has enough votes on the commission.

Augusta needs the golf and garden property. It's own by the state and Gov. Perdue has agreed to give it to Augusta.

The mayor wanted the Tee center issue to finished first. Now that the Tee center starts construction feb-march 2010. The stadium will be brought back into the spotlight.

Dream on!!! This will not be built in your lifetime. They only draw about 800 or less to the old one so why would the city waste the taxpayers money on a new park. Nobody goes to the green jackets games anymore.

I attend several of the games during the season. The greenjackets games are crowded everytime I go.

I too attended several games just this past season, and each game had very large crowds with the stadium very near capacity (one game even had temps in the upper 90s and the stadium was still filled).

I could care less if you want to bash Augusta. Atleast have the facts to back up your statements. I try not to respond to you anymore. I didn't post after you on your other two posting today. I can't let you get away with another post of untrue things.

The first season under the management of Ripken Baseball in 2006, we finished with the second largest attendance increase in all of Minor League Baseball. In 2007, we set a franchise record for total attendance, and this season we are on pace to set another franchise record for total attendance.
Minor League Baseball: News: Article

In 2008, the Augusta Green Jackets set another attendance record with over 200,000 fans cheering on their hometown team and single game attendance with 5,566 on July 4

Fixed seating capacity is supposed to be ~4,600 and the terrace areas are to accommodate ~700 people. 12th street is supposed to be extended to the riverwalk like 10th street at the Marriot, there is supposed to be retail space along Reynolds under the stands of the stadium. Across the extended 12th street from the stadium is a building for residential and offices and a possible Golf Hall of Fame (originally intended to be built at the Gardens). Also on the stadium side at the end of the extension of 12th street is supposed to be a theme restaurant at the same level as the upper part of the riverwalk/levee. As for the stadium, it would also have 10 skyboxes, 4 party suites, and a club area that could hold up to 400 people.
