With the way Augusta is growing. Trust me it definitely won't stay the same. None of the cities on the list had a decrease. Some just grew at a faster pace than the other's. That's why Augusta is ranked higher than Atlanta. Even though the median pay is lower.

I rode around Augusta yesterday. There are so many new homes being built all over the place. The pay scale is going to jump alot higher in the upcoming years.

Industry, health care and government jobs help cushion economy in recession

Talks about Wells Fargo, Procter & Gamble and Kellogg's bring jobs here.
Savannah River Site's thousands of new jobs. The National Security Agency bringing 4,000 jobs.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver said he feels the city has a jump on others in regards to recovery.

"Looking ahead to a TEE Center, a new hotel ... we are positioned to move ahead in a hurry next year," he said.

Mr. Copenhaver said he thinks the national exposure from rankings such as MetroMonitor will bring attention and investment to Augusta.
