Augusta city is already above 200,000. Im thinking 208k-210,000. The lastest census was from July 2008. Richmond county is probably 216k.

2007-2008 Metro Augusta gained 6,000 people.. Richmond county gained a little over 2,500

2008-2009 it probably was 9 to 11,000.... RC probably 5,000

2009-2010 probably 11,000 to 15,000.. RC probably 7,000

Or it could be alot more. Im trying to be conservate on the estimates.

The City population is NOT above 200,000 as of 2008 estimates, which are the numbers we will use as official until the 2010 census.

The City pop. as of 2008: 194,149
The County pop. as of 2007: 199,992

Augusta was losing population at a slight rate for a few years early this decade, but that has stopped, and now the population is starting to increase. The City population at the 2000 census was 195,182 meaning that Augusta actually lost around 1000 people from 2000 to 2008.

As of the 2010 census, I believe that the City population will be close to 200,000 , such as around 196,000-197,000 but even that is being generous, but there is no way the 2010 census is going to show the city population is 210,000 , that is unless we count the dead people in cemeteries and all our pets too!

If Augusta metro gained 6,000 people in 2007-2008. Richmond county gained a little over 2,000 people. I can definitely tell you the RC and the metro gained more than that during 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. Augusta city is over 200,000 people in 2010.

You don't know that, no numbers have come out since 2008, you are just making a guess! You cannot make that claim until the census is taken this year, until then we have to look at the 2000 census, 2008 estimates, and the population trends, which show that the city LOST 1000 people from 2000 to 2008. It is VERY unlikely that the city gained 6000 new people in 2 years.

We are being optimistic in even believing that the city has gained population since 2008 since the trend from 2000 to 2008 saw the population decrease, even though I believe that this is starting to reverse and population is now growing slowly.

SRS, NSA, Medical District, Ft. Gordon, ADP, Wells Fargo, Procter and Gamble, Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! There is 100 times as much growth happening in Augusta. In the year 2010 compared to 2000. Augusta economy is going to double by 2015-2016. Look at how Augusta has changed since just the year 2007. I-20/520 interchange, palmetto pkwy, savannah river pkwy, whites building, sutherland mill, granite mill, heart and vascular center, augusta mall promenade, library, green building, sheraton, hilton garden inn, homewood suites by hilton, etc, etc, etc,. I could go on and on. Look at how many cranes are downtown today. Compared to the year 2007. So imagine how much diffrent Augusta looks to somebody. Who hasn't been here since 2000.

I forgot the jobs at Plant Vogtle. The growth is already here. The explosive growth is coming in March.
