Expect an August date to emerge for the ground breaking on the $25 million Hyatt Place hotel on Reynolds Street, two months behind the TEE Center start-up which is the catalyst for the hotel.

Comcast's Xfinity arrives Friday | The Augusta Chronicle

This is the new brand name for Comcast services. Augusta is among the first 11 cities to get the new moniker. Others include Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, Portland, Seattle and San Francisco.

Why does Augusta get to be in such elite company in being involved in the Xfinity rollout? The technological infrastructure is fast enough to support all the services in Xfinity, explained local spokeswoman Tina Baggott.

“As you can note from the cities that are launching on Friday, Augusta is among some of our bigger and most elite markets in the country to offer these new technologies to subscribers,” Baggott said.

Expect to see a lot of Xfinity commercials during the Olympics. Over time, all the trucks and uniforms and banners will all bear the new name. But the Comcast building on River Watch Parkway will still be the Comcast building.
