There is a new restaurant opening in Augusta Exchange. Augusta Exchange is surrounded by fast growing residential areas(Roy rd, West Wheeler pkwy, Perimeter pkwy, Interstate pkwy, and Augusta west pkwy). In the future I expect to see even more restaurants open up.

Carolina Ale House will open in the former Tony Romas. The sign is located infront of the building.

Additional Carolina Ale House locations are in the works for 2010 (Fayetteville NC, a rooftop concept in downtown Raleigh NC, Greenville SC and Augusta GA.)

They need something like this downtown Augusta to add a restaurant/dining experience that also provides a pretty clean place to have some drinks and party later at night...especially with the ability to do a rooftop bar like Columbia has.

Definitely don't think this place does as well as the one in Columbia- since again, it isn't near a district where people go for nightlife like the Vista in Columbia has. However, Wild Wings survives and it is in that same situation I suppose.

The restaurant is not even open yet. Nobody knows how well it will do compared to the one in Columbia. The one in Augusta is located in a 5 minute vincinity of Regal 20 theatre, Indigo Joes, and Alley Cats.

In Richmond county alone. There is Broad Street Market, Casa Blanca, La Masion, Public House, Calverts, Chop House, Bistro 491, TakoSushi, etc.

I do agree nortonguy, while there is a lack of the more upscale chain/national brand restaurants in the area, there are many high quality and upscale local eateries throughout the CSRA. A fine example that comes to mind (other than some that you mentioned) is the members only Pinnacle Club on the top 2 floors of the Wachovia building in downtown.

However, I would like to see more national brands locate downtown though, I personally think that a Wild Wing Cafe would make a killing downtown, as would a Starbucks.

Obviously it isnt open yet. No one knows how well it is going to do, I just personally don't see it doing to well in comparison to the Columbia location (this is called an "opinion").

While it is located near other restaurants, shopping, and the theatre- I just don't think it will hit on 1/2 of that particular restaurant's business model...nightlife. People will dine there, no doubt- it is actually pretty good food for a chain. Will people take it in as a nightlife spot? We will see I guess.

However, my main point was that I wish something like this would be put DOWNTOWN to really spice up the area and get some good (classy and clean) traffic down there.
