The new owners of the Cotton Patch downtown are planning to open a new restaurant on Washington Road in Evans...
Quote:
The commute to his new restaurant at 4446 Washington Road in the Shoppes at Camelot has been more than cut in half. Mitchell said he is awaiting his state alcohol license and plans to open Eli’s American by the end of this month.
Mitchell has been renovating the 3,000-square-foot space since late 2013. The Southern-style restaurant will feature a similar menu as The Cotton Patch, but the larger kitchen will allow Mitchell to prepare more fish and steak dishes.
The eatery also will include a 48-seat private dining room that can be reserved for events.
Mitchell said he will begin hiring about 35 employees next week to staff the restaurant.

It's official now, Chipotle is coming to Aiken. It will be the first in the metro area.
Quote:
Work on a new 4,300-square-foot building at 1935 Whiskey Road began taking shape about two weeks ago. An old Teresa’s Mexican Restaurant was demolished on the site this spring, said interim Aiken Planning Director Tommy Paradise.
Chipotle is a confirmed tenant and will take up about 2,300 square feet of the building, said Alan Gains*borg, the director of construction and de*velopment for Florida-based PHDevelopers. The remaining space will be occupied by Aiken’s first standalone drive-through Starbucks.
Gainsborg said he expects construction to finish in mid-October.

I haven't seen much self-advertisement here, but I thought I would post about this anyway:

New York Butcher Shoppe is returning to Surrey Center this fall
Quote:
After closing in 2011 on the upper level of Surrey Center, New York Butcher Shoppe will open again in the shopping center on Highland Avenue – this time by a different franchisee and in a different storefront. Local franchisee Jack Deese said he expects to begin serving customers at 465 Highland Ave. in early September.
Deese is renovating the 1,750-square-foot space, which was formerly occupied by Fix Blow Dry Bar until the salon relocated earlier this month to the Washington Crossing shopping center in Augusta.
Deese said he has been told by both his landlord in Surrey Center and the owner of the South Carolina-based franchise that Augusta residents frequently e-mail or call to inquire if the New York Butcher Shoppe will reopen.
The New York Butcher Shoppe sells certified Angus beef steaks and other meat dishes, such as chicken cordon bleu, in addition to seasonal vegetables, pastas, sauces, wine and other select grocery items.

ATAX is planning to open more offices.
Quote:
Local franchisees of a Latino-owned tax preparation and accounting chain are expanding their presence in the area.
Donna Scheiber and Rosa “Millie” Graham opened Georgia’s first ATAX Accounting & Financial Services branch in Martinez in July 2013 and are looking for two more sites to open before tax season. Scheiber said they notified the corporate office in June of their expansion plans.
The women are considering North Augusta and Grovetown for the future branches because of the growing military and larger Latino populations in those areas. They expect to open both branches this October and hire at least five employees at each, Scheiber said.
“We’re trying to build a triangle,” Scheiber said. “We have a couple of offers in different areas to see what actually pans out.”
