Jersey Mike's continues their local expansion
Quote:
A sixth local Jersey Mike’s will open Wednesday in North Augusta, and seventh and eighth aren’t far behind.
The new 1,400-square-foot store in the Sweetwater Square shopping center is one of 10 Jersey Mike’s Subs stores in metro Augusta that local franchisees Eric Clark and Jason Wren plan to open by 2017. It is located next to Wal-Mart off Interstate 20’s Exit 5 and employs about 15 people.
Clark said they are currently looking at sites in Martinez and Grovetown near Fort Gordon for two new locations that will open before the spring of 2016. Specific locations have not yet been pinpointed, he said.

I know these places are kind of small potatoes, but they are apparently going to build a Dunkin Doughnuts across Belair Road from the new Neighborhood Walmart. Also appears they are going to make the former Boots Bridles and Britches store in Grovetown into a Burger King.

New clothing store coming to Furys Ferry...
Quote:
Ashley Gilbert is opening an apparel and gift store called Due South at 229 Furys Ferry Road on Aug. 26 that will carry “Southern, preppy” labels for men, women, children and babies.
Gilbert also will operate a separate web-based personalized gift and embroidery business, It’s Gee Gee, Baby!, out of the 1,400-square-foot store at Furys Ferry Station.
Gilbert, who has run It’s Gee Gee, Baby! out of her home for six years, said she needed a larger space for the growing online business and came up with the idea to open a secondary retail store as a way to offset overhead costs.
Due South replaces Tiaras and Pearls, which relocated to another Augusta location earlier this year. The store will have nine employees.

Oh great, more Family Dollars.....
Quote:
The first, an 8,300-square-foot store, is slated on a wooded 6-acre tract at 3764 Peach Orchard Road in south Augusta. A site plan for the project was submitted to Augusta’s Planning and Zoning department in late August, and construction should start at the end of 2015, said company spokeswoman Bryn Winburn.
Winburn said that store is expected to open in the second half of 2016.
Another new store will be located at 3211 Old McDuffie Road, at the Barton Chapel Road intersection in Augusta. It will open in the first quarter of 2016, Winburn said.
Construction of a third new Family Dollar is expected to start this fall at 3707 Mike Padgett Highway in south Augusta. That 9,000-square-foot store is set to open at the corner of Mike Padgett Highway and Tobacco Road in late 2016.
