are you talking about the old Hess station lot if so good its been empty for years Cookout has decent food I had lunch at their Orangerburg, SC location once and it was pretty good. I think they should do pretty well with the ASU and Medical Center lunch crowds. When will they open for business?

Council approves first reading of new Aiken shopping center, debates new traffic pattern, possible gas station there

Members of the Aiken City Council unanimously approve first readings of two ordinances that transform the South Park Shopping Center into something much more visually appealing.

There are rumors that even a Starbucks could come to the center, along with Fresh Market and other businesses, but several of the council members displayed displeasure that a gas station may open up there too

Starbucks wouldn't be bad since we only have on in the Kroger. There's no real coffee shop in town either.

Aiken needs another gas station like we need another golf course! And to get in out and of that plaza is already a challenge. Should be very interesting how this goes with Fresh Market. I still can't wait for that to open! This has been in the works since last year.

I think Walgreens will start construction in South Augusta on Windsor Spring rd(probably near Tobacco rd) in the next few months...

I don't know the exact date, but after the I-520 expansion is complete Target, Ruby Tuesday, and Chick Fil will make the decision it's time to open in South Augusta.. All three have already expressed interest in the area before..

If you inlcuded Southwest Augusta(Belair rd, Jimmie Dyess, and Gordon Hwy between Jimmie Dyess and Harlem/Grovetown) as South Augusta then the planned retail would be even more impressive...

1. 25 acre shopping center on Jimmie Dyess
http://appweb.augustaga.gov/planning_zoning/plazid_display.asp?zID=4102
2. 10k sq. ft. Shoppes at Dyess Park on Jimmie Dyess
http://appweb.augustaga.gov/planning_zoning/plazid_display.asp?zID=4221
3. 13 acre shopping center at Gordon Hwy/Robinson Ave
http://appweb.augustaga.gov/planning_zoning/plazid_display.asp?zID=4307
4. 11 acre commercial use property at 677 Robinson Avenue
5. Circle K at Gordon Hwy/Robinson Ave
