Augusta's job market is better than the rest of Georgia and South Carolina's, Wells Fargo's senior economist said Thursday.
Georgia's recession ended in the middle of last year, but it hasn't seen any job growth yet. Vitner said the Augusta metro area has seen job growth for the past four months. Augusta had an unemployment rate of 9.2 percent in March, lower than the 10.6 percent in Georgia and 12.2 percent in South Carolina.
He also noted that Augusta-Aiken housing activity is stronger than the rest of the states.

Less gloomy on commercial real estate | The Augusta Chronicle
Cal Evans is Synovus' commercial property guru. Every year he drives over from Athens to talk to Augusta bankers and real estate executives. He was a little less gloomy this year compared to last year.
"This market, be glad you're in it. It is so much better than everywhere else and it will recover faster than everywhere else," Evans said during his breakfast presentation.
His bottom line: A market with a heavy concentration of government, military and medical jobs will recover more quickly than areas that don't have this mix. That's why Evans thinks Augusta will be ahead of areas like Atlanta for a few years.

LOL! That will happen only if Atlanta sprawls to the point where Augusta is just another surburb but I hope it does NOT happen as we need our wilderness.
Check this pic out . There are more jobs in 1 quater of this pic than all of the CSRA. Atlanta is light years ahead of Augusta.
