Hi,
Can you tell me how United did with your move and what the cost was? We are moving from West Palm Beach to Pflugervile. Thank you!

Default Moving from CT to Austin

I would say the move with United wasn't as smooth as other moves with them. This was our third corporate move, and they did all the packing, no unpacking other than to set up the beds. There was a second load of items that didn't fit on the first truck (garage and outdoor furniture) and they arrived a week later, although some of our patio items were missing. We had a few pieces of furniture and kitchen things broken...I didn't care as they were eventually being replaced...but if I did care, if they were family pieces or heirlooms...I would feel different. The actual amount came in $5000 less than the estimate due to the fact we purged furniture, rugs and anything we knew wouldn't work in the house. We moved a 5500 sq ft house, 3 bedroms, library, DR, LR, Family Room, Kitchen and full basement and attic. As I said, we really unloaded a ton of stuff. The total amount was $20K + $1100 in tips. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the guys, they worked HARD and four full days on the pack and load end of it. One very long day on the unload side...all great guys, polite, courteous, can't say enough about them.

my experience is somewhat slim however it's my understanding these national movers are operated as franchises soooooo, if the local reputation is good the cross country move should be pleasant as well (imho)

Default Cross Country Movers

I just wanted to mention that the men on the job weren't necessarily United Van Line employees. The "boss" for each end was, but the worker bees worked for other moving companies, local and national, and were hired for the day. Some knew each other, some didn't. My understanding was that there is a pool of guys to choose from, depending on where you are or where you are headed. The driver from CT to Austin lived in Dallas, and was just trying to get back to this area on a paid trip. Again, they were all outstanding!
