I hope someone can help clarify this for me:

We're house-hunting in 78730, looking in Long Canyon, Westminster Glen type areas. But I'm seeing something that looks very weird to me as far as figuring out where school attendance boundaries go. Chunks of streets go to Leander ISD, but then it seems like almost random chunks get split off to Austin ISD.

1) Can anyone tell me how these attendance boundaries got decided? Was someone smoking something really powerful?

2) My kids are elementary and middle school, and we're shopping in this area with an eye at going to the Leander schools, particularly with the new middle and high school (this area is supposed to go to Four Points MS and Vandegrift HS). Can anyone hazard a guess at what are the odds we'll get redistricted back into Austin ISD?

Any information from someone on the ground there would be helpful - we're not local.

Thanks.

There is no chance they will be redistricted from leander to austin. none.
the boundaries were often drawn years and years ago when there were few folks living in many of these areas.
