My Dodge 2500 P/U has an exhaust brake, from the factory.
I use it all the time, when the roads are wet.

It will slow you down dramatically, while those behind you think you don't have any brake lights.

That's the opposite of what you should be doing. You should avoid using it when roads are wet. Engine brakes only apply torque to your drive wheels, so you need twice as much torque per wheel to get the same amount of deceleration you'd get applying your brakes, which act on all 4 wheels, meaning you're more likely to lose traction.
