Hello, my boyfriend and I are considering moving to Austin as we have heard many great things about the city. I am an x-ray tech and he is in paramedic school and looking to get on with a fire dept.
I was hoping that someone might have info on the job market for both of these professions... I am from phx and both of these jobs are very hard to find right now because of the schools pumping out to many xray techs per yr, is this a problem in Austin? Here in phx also just about every male in his 20's wants to be a firefighter is there a lot of competition for this field also? Does anyone happen to know of any depts in the Austin area that may be hiring firefighters in the near future, I had heard a rumor that Austin was.

Austin's unemployment rate is pretty low compared to other parts of the country. I'd suggest searching job sites like Monster or jobing.com
