We inherited a couple of canvas paintings that have been hanging in a smoker's house for a while now. I'm looking for a place that can attempt to clean the paintings as they have sentimental value.

Has anyone used anyone to do this? How much was it?

Have you contacted these folks?

Several years ago, I bought an oil painting that had been exposed to years of cigarette smoke. I did some research on the internet and cleaned it myself. I was cautious during the cleaning, testing and working on small areas at a time to make sure my attempt didn't ruin it, but what this one held up to may not be the same as yours.

You might try UT and see if someone wants to take it on as a senior project or something.

Thanks, I'll contact the artworks people. I'm nervous that I'd ruin the painting by cleaning it myself.
