Hello Everyone,

We are currently living in Austin, TX. Just relocated from CA and miss it a lot. We were debating whether moving to Phoenix, AZ would have been better than Austin. All our friends and near family are in CA and Phoenix is much closed to CA. We could have always drove down may be once a month or once in two months.

We like Austin as city and think Phoenix would be the same. But onething we are not clear about is, how are Austin public schools compared to Phoenix public schools.

We would highly appreciate your inputs.

Thanks.

moved here 1 year ago from phoenix, the schools here are WAY better then AZ. My kids are grown but the younger mothers I talked to there said they hated the schools.

Many Austin schools are very competitive on a national scale. Westlake HS, Bowie HS, Austin HS, Anderson HS, LASA, Westwood HS, Akins HS, and many others have been recognized as in the top 6% in the country, with many in the top 100 and one in the top 50( Liberal Arts and Science Academy). Austin has also been ranked in the top ten smartest cities in the country.

I so would not move to Phoenix. The housing market is a mess among many, many other problems. I would imagine that the teachers have to deal with a lot of ESL student as well leaving less time for other students. Isn't it the kidnapping capital of the world as well? Austin is far superior in so many ways.
