Default In a few words what is the community of La Grange like?

Some of the most appealing houses for sale on realty websites are in La Grange. They tend to be older and architecturally interesting.

What is the community like?

In one word - isolated.

It's midway between Austin and Houston, so you're looking at a drive if you have any interest in enjoying cultural aspects that only big cities can offer.

Check out the chamber of commerce website for more info.

Yes, it's pretty far out from Austin (maybe 45 mins to an hour?) Rural, but there are a few new places being built. There are some neat old places though. It would be a great place if you don't need to be in Central Austin for work, or if you telecommute and only go into town every once in a while. I wouldn't really put it midway between Austin and Houston, as it's a little closer to Austin. Very pretty out there, hilly.

Right next to the big coal-fired power plants, too . Although they are newer design, so they aren't really that dirty....

If you like rural areas, though, this might be a place to look. The growth is definitely limited when compared to a lot of central Texas cities. Do not speed through there, though, there is a regional DPS office.
