I completely agree - there is racism everywhere. But it is almost state sanctioned when you have schools named after Confederate fighters, statues on state grounds, holidays commemorating Confederate "heroes," etc., etc.
In all seriousness, if you have a passpost, you can move out of the country for a long time, getting a visa somewhere, and becaome an expatriate....you might find a place outside of the USA a little more hospitable...many many people have done that that didn't totally dig what american has to offer, from Hemingway on down....perhaps its just an ameriican thing....Canada has no history of rwcism or slavery, and its just down the road apiece...try them out....
...but it sounds like this could be just a case of people just wanting to complain/vent a little on here, which is fine...after a short spell, that gets really boring for everyone, and plays itself out...I would say this should be played out within two weeks at most. That still is my best advice. America itself might not be the best thing for some people who aren't into it's legacy, of which it certainly has a unique one, sadly indeed based largely on SOME exploitation, yet equal parts SOME freedom as well......it just is what it is, along with its cities...some of it sucks, some is admirable, and some might not be for everyone.
The bad news, that you will find when you go out of country, is that not everyone likes Americans either, so you will experience merely another form of prejudice in a different guise....Man is just inherently exclusionary, tribal, and "racist", if you will....a legacy of his evolutionary past, like the brain stem, and much of the rest of his lower brain....and it manifests itself in many ways, racism being just one....welcome to the real world!

i simply disagree with the idea that racism is so much worse down south because of this. as for that confederate war heroes holiday in texas; well i've been a resident of this state for 20+ years and had no idea it even existed until you mentioned it, so that ought to tell you something
Out of your choices, Atlanta is probably the most diverse.
I find it extremely ironic when people claim an area is more diverse, simply because it has more black people living there. That does not make it diverse.
When I compare Atlanta, Raleigh, Houston and Austin below, Atlanta is the least diverse city of these.
Atlanta is mostly black and white (91.5%), with very small numbers of other races living there (8.5%).
Raleigh is mostly black and white (84.3%), with almost twice as many other races living there (15.7%). Raleigh is far more diverse then Atlanta.
Houston is marginally mostly black and white (50.8%), with the total for other races living there (49.2%). Houston seems to have a far more diverse population then Atlanta or Raleigh.
Austin, when you count all the races, is far more diverse then Atlanta with black and white totaling only 57%, and other races totaling 43%.

The problem with this though, CptnRn, is that you are making the same mistake I made. The OP and several other posters are using "diverse" as a code word because they don't want to say "predominantly black".
When I first read "diverse" in the OP's note, I legitimately thought she meant "diverse", ie. having many different ethnicities and influences. Reading thru these posts though, I see that is not what people are looking for at all. If that was the case, then Austin would be suitable. But if you read carefully, you will see that the emphasis of these post are on "strong african american or black communities". I dont want to go back and check, b/c that would take too long, but I believe one poster even said that they "want to be among their own kind".
That is why I rather flippantly suggested the moon, because they were asking for something that I don't think really exists on earth.
It's funny too, b/c the posters that are so hell bent on living in predominantly black cities are usually the FIRST ones to dismiss actual black majority cities as being dumps or crime ridden. IE detroit (82% black) or Baltimore (62% black)

If you consider Austin's stats above, with hispanics primed to eclipse the anglos in about 10 years, I would not consider this exactly a bastion of caucasian supremacy. The city is also very live and let live, which makes it even more open, ala that mix....per skewed racial mixes, I guess Salt Lake City/Portland/Seattle would be it for the Anglos, the Brownsville area and Tucson/San Antonio, with Miami, for Hispanics, and Atlanta, Chicago, NYC, Little Rock, DC, Memphis, and Detroit would be it for blacks....
Does that make them BETTER in any way? Not at all...If you worked just by the percentages per what city is best for blacks, it would be a tie between Detroit and Gary, at 81.6% and 84% respectively.....which, by the numbers only, says that Gary is the best city for blacks.

Yes, that is why I wrote that it is extremely ironic that they claim to be looking for diversity.
I moved to Round Rock Texas from Michigan (Southfield area) due to the same reasons that a lot of others did...but that's not what this post is about.
Anywhoo, I am MISERABLE here in Round Rock and hate living in central Texas. So I am not asking for comments to support or defend RR, but I am asking for anyone who can tell me which city is more diverse with the same of similar level of crime, cost of living, etc.?
I've been considering one of the suburbs in ATL...but I am not sure. Visited, but 1st impressions can be deceiving (as RR proved to be).
Anyone know of another city/state that offers same advantages, but less racist (yeah, I went ahead and said it even though I've never pulled the "race" card .... til I moved here)
I just wanna live where my "kind" are treated equally (I'm Afr. Amer.) , I pay my taxes, work, engage in lil safe entertainment, etc and move on with my life. But since I've been here, I've encountered more racism than any other place I've ever lived or visited.
I'd live to leave TX altogther but I'll consider suggestions.

the tiny city limits of atlanta only make up about 1/7 of the entire urban area of ATLANTA. you're looking at city limits when you should be looking at metro areas.
when it comes to nationalities/ethnicities, atlanta is more diverse by far:
