Seriously, why did he move here? And now he brings his girlfriend (Kat Von D) to Austin to visit. Yuck. Go back to LA. Honestly, Sandra Bullock must have some serious thick skin to put up with him being here and bringing ick along with him.

The gossip mags and websites are reporting this. Austin is an anti-celebrity type of town, so the focus on Austin (in this manner) seems unhealthy for our image.

Obviously, let us hope that the celebrity-driven, "name-dropping" LA/ SoCal culture doesn't take root here.

FYI: I saw a Statesman real estate article do that on a new house designed by an LA architect by Mt. Bonnell and the writer got lots of complaints in the comments section. Celebrity-demagoguery just seems superfluous, fake and anti-Austin. So sucks.

I didn't debate the place that it goes, I am debating the need to post it at all. The more people talk about a "celebrity", the more attention they get. Moderator cut: Please don't attack another member, respect their rights. They have the right to post this thread, just as you have the right to read it or ignore it.

#1) Moderator cut: orphaned comments, reference post was edited

#2) I think we should honest with ourselves are admit celebrities are coming here regardless of whether we invite them or not. Many of these people are arriving for the same reason many transplants do: for something different, organic, and yet, uniquely Texan.

The question becomes how to preserve that sense of culture, enthusiasm, and authenticity when so many people are streaming in with the same attitudes and wanting the same things from which they left. As a result, there is tension over what Austin's identity will become.

However that sentiment is expressed, I believe it's good to talk about it.

It amuses me every time someone takes the time to lecture someone else about ignoring a topic.

In a way, Jesse has been here for a quite some time. He owns Austin Speed Shop and that's been here since around the time of thier marriage.
I heard he plans on opening a Cisco Burger here soon.

I just hope it ends with his ex-wife moving here also. No more trash please.
