... not from the farmer's market. Asking as I don't always make it to a farmer's market but wondering if anyone stocked local eggs (maybe a Wheatsville or something?) Thanks!

They have a nice selection of fairly local eggs at Sun Harvest.

I'm curious - what does "fairly local" mean?

Yes, nearly all eggs sold by HEB for example are from Texas! Is that local enough?!

I get eggs from Boggy Creek farm stand and Green Gate farm stand (bit different than farmer's markets).

In "Fall, 2010", you'll be able to buy local eggs and it appears like darned near local everything else at Monument Market (offshoot of Monument Cafe) at the original Monument Cafe location in south Georgetown, 7 days a week.

Sorry, I mean from small local farms vs. the large corporate "farms" like the one in the news recently.

Ask around. Someone may have chickens and sell off their extras. I do.
I could get 2 doz more chickens and still not have enough eggs for all those that want them so I can't help you out.

Seems to be a huge demand for local eggs. Why not get a few chooks for the backyard yourself ?

Ideal Poultry is just a 1.5 hour drive (Cameron TX) and you can pick them up and have your own little flock ? 4-5 girls roaming the backyard should be more than enough.

Where are these two farm stands? Any others, especially south Austin?
