Sounds like you just need to move on. The job situation here really can suck for a lot of people. I was out of work for 5 months and I was definitely ready to git.

I think different cities work for different people at different points in their life. I'm reasonably happy here right now but things could change in the future, who knows? Many of the things I find frustrating here are things I would find frustrating in most American cities with the exceptions of a few.

Good luck with the job situation.

I went to college in Boston and have traveled back there several times over the last few years. I honestly think that Boston and Austin have virtually nothing in common, so saying that Boston is "Austin on steroids" is a bit of a misnomer.
