Trader Joes? Rumor... or??
I have to admit, I am really really missing my Trader Joes. I heard a rumor one was coming... anyone know any truth to it? Where? When?

I don't know! I actually emailed them for more information, and I hope I get a real response.
The rumor is just that - that one "Is coming".... and it's not by anyone that has any "in" or anything.

We are moving to Austin this month from CA, and I actually had emailed TJ's about opening one when I got there. They don't franchise, and at that time, they said they had no plans to open in Texas anytime soon. I remain bummed.

Shopping at TJ's will be one of the things I miss most about SoCal if/when we move!

I do hope Trader Joe's decides to change their minds. We just moved to Austin from SoCal as well (after a previous 8 year in SF) and we miss it terribly. I just emailed them as well trying to convince them that Austin would be an ideal market. Perhaps we California expats can join together and start a petition/plea of sorts? ; )

I heard from a grocer in Austin that Trader Joe's does not yet have a distribution center that is close enough to serve the city. So I guess the reason they are not in Austin has more to do with logistics than demographics.

Oh man -- how sad is it that the LACK of Trader Joes in Austin is a drawback to me??! I try to remain an open-minded person, but ...! I'll sign any petition someone gets out. What an awesome store!! Maybe I'll contact them as well -- the more, the merrier!
