Are there any places to play legalized Texas Holdem' near Austin? Any casinos planned to be built? I can't really find anything online... Surprising that TEXAS seems to be a place that doesn't actually permit TEXAS HOLDEM? LOL

Oh, it's played here just the way it always was -- illegally.

But there are also tournaments and things which are legal:
Austin Texas Sports Bar, Austin Billiards and Pool Hall - Shooters Billiards and Sports Bar - Austin Texas Hold 'Em Poker (http://www.shootersbilliards.net/poker.php - broken link)

There is a fantasy poker league that has Texas hold 'em tournaments at a few different sports bars around town. You can go to each bar's website to see the schedule. JT's in Cedar Park, RC Fowler's, and Backroads are a few places. The games are free, but the winner does get like $50 or $100.

As for Casinos in Texas, look up Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino on the net. I take the bus to WinStar World Casino just over the OK line now that they have started the $20 trip price with the $20 put on your card as Free Play.

As mentioned earlier, the Lucky Eagle is the only casino in TX. It's about a 3 and 1/2 hour drive from Austin, and they have Texas Holdem tournaments:

Kickapoo Lucky Eagle - Poker Tournaments

Probably OK for seasoned gamblers, but the casino is a bit on the small and sparse side. Also very smoky, of course.

I guess I should have put at least one link. You can play Texas Hold 'Em at JT's at least 4 nights a week, if not more and they hold two tournaments per night (6:30 and 9:30) and you can play in both. I assume the other places on this circuit are similar.

JT's Sports Grille
