I just failed car inspection due to the new Texas law being that windows must have 25% transmission. Apparently I am at 15% and the inspector tech's solution was to rip off my tint with a razor (yeah not gonna happen). Anyone know an inspection location where they don't check tint?

Your first step should probably be to understand what the law requires. There are some exemptions allowed for some windows.

Revised window tint laws effective September 1, 2009.

TxDPS - Window Tinting Standards (http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/misc/faq/tint.htm - broken link)

In my opinion it would be a mistake to try and get by with the window tints that don't comply. Doing so could subject you to being pulled over and ticketed anytime a police officer notices your excessively dark tinted windows. Do you really want to make yourself a target?

I've had my car for 5 years, been pulled over a couple of times and never had a problem. I'm finishing up graduate school right now so I don't have a lot of money (I need tinting I park outside) to replace window tint that doesn't impair my ability to drive in the least bit. The law apparently just changed from 20% to 25% so I have been "illegally" driving since the day I bought my car (used from a certified dealership with the tint).

I once had a problem in Georgetown at a place for my inspection since my eyebrow tint was too wide. She was kind enough to direct me to another place down the street who "over-looked" it and gave me my tags.
