Happy with cable?
Since our move, we kept our Direct TV service, but got the TWC high speed and digital phone service. When TWC installed our service, the guy left saying it will work in 20 to 30 minutes. They are activating it at the office. Well 5 days later and 3 house call later, we finally have service! But it doesn't end there. On average, it is probably down 2 times a week. I call, we are currently experiencing technical problems in the Round Rock/Hutto area, etc.
Anyone else have this problem?

I've had Time Warner cable, internet, and phone for over two years now and had the service go out once, maybe twice, for about five minutes. That's it. I live in the City of Austin so maybe they're having some problems in the Round Rock area.

I know there are still some unresolved issues in some areas with all of the storms we've been having lately.

I guess it's more annoying than anything. To be talking on the phone or typing a response on a message board, then bam, no service. My mother in law thought I hung up on her twice the other night! That is not good!!

statefan, YES! That exact thing has happened to me when we moved into our most recent house! Your box is dead, they need to come back out with a new box... and don't let them leave till it's fixed.
My internet is down, and phone OFTEN through out the last 2 wks... same with the neighbors.
I HATE TIME WARNER!

Here in Hutto, We're using Dish, and having the same problems, only we don't have the internet/phone deal. But the T.V tends to go black quite a bit. I've never heard anyone say anything negative about Time Warner, but whatever the problem is, I wish they'd fix it!

I had all 3. The phone service rarely worked. They said it was old cable lines in the house.
One thunderstorm and the phone was a goner. No thunderstorms and the phone was a goner. lol
Never had a problem with the cable or the internet though.
What I hate is their prices. They have the market cornered and they know it.

Suddenlink
We signed up with Suddenlink for their highspeed internet and their TV package (satelite channels, HDTV)
We pay $99 per month and so far (nearly 1 month) zero outtages, no down time at all.
I don't care for their customer service folk but I cant complain about anything else at all.

We weaned ourselves off cable a few years ago when they pretty much completed their monopoly in the area. Their prices haven't been as bad as they could have been (or what we feared), but they are not good. Customer service, from what I heard, has been a joke. A co-worker has one of those 'nightmare' stories of trying to get cable installed. It literally took most of last summer.
Cable TV is definitely the highest quality, currently, but you do pay for it. Not sure on internet reliability, since we use DSL, but DSL has worked great and has been noticeably cheaper over the last couple years and there is only one outtage that I remember (may have been others when I was not using it, of course). Our DishTV is out during heavy storms, which is a bother, but is worth the savings to me personally. For others, that may be a big negative. We so rarely watch live TV anymore, it is all DVRed .

We haven't had a problem with the cable. We had the phone, cable and Internet package, but we decided to cut down to save money. Got rid of HBO and the phone about a year ago - then, a few months ago, my husband discovered that we're still getting the HBO in his office and the bedroom TV's.
About 3 months ago, an AT&T salesman came to the door selling a Direct TV package. My husband didn't want to switch, so we didn't mess with it. Our neighbors, on the other hand, decided to do it, and they've had nothing but problems. When they installed the Direct TV, it messed up their security system wiring. Then their phone didn't work. Then they received a $239 bill! The installation was supposed to be free. They were on the phone all day with AT&T trying to get it fixed, and they did NOT want to take off the $200 for installation. It was a big mess.
