Wood floor installers
I will be moving into a house around the Arboretum this fall and would like to install wood floors before moving in. Can anyone recommend a good wood floor installer?

Austin Hardwood Flooring
We used Austin Hardwood Flooring (on Burnet, near Koenig) and were very happy.

I'll second Austin Hardwood Flooring. They have a very patient and knowledgeable staff. The selection is second to none as well. The showroom has many samples installed in the showroom, so you don't have to just look at a little square.
I wish my wife would have let me put a different species of wood in every room.

We had Image Tile and Carpet install bamboo floors in our master bedroom. Their installer did an excellent job, but the overall price was probably too high. The saleslady was reluctant to break down the cost by materials, labor, etc.
Next time we're going to buy the materials ourselves and hire the same installer directly.

When I built in 2000, I found a tile and carpet outlet off of Hwy 183 and United Drive. I cannot recall the name, but they had a sign out on the 183 frontage.
I expected to just buy materials from them, but they gave me a great price including labor on tile, carpet and wood flooring. My father was a homebuilder and acting as my general on the job was very satisfied with how they worked and I have had no problems with my floors in the seven years since they have been installed.

Thanks for all the input! I ended up going with Image Tile & Carpet based on the price (which was broken down for me by labor, materials, etc.) and recommendations of others that were happy with Image's installation. They did a beautiful job, the installer (Oscar) and his crew were very professional and very fast. So far so good!
