Our daughter and her juvenile children (14 & 18) are scheduled to visit us here in Elgin next month. I thought of showing them ... and us ... the Texas 2-step outlet, BBQ or whatever, while here.

But, in checking the one out in Coupland, the 'charge' just to get in is 74.00 for our group......just to see what it is; we are from Nevada; they are from Kentucky.

Is that normal?????

Thanks

EDIT: IF YOU KNOW OF A BETTER OUTLET, PLEASE ADVISE; WITHIN REASONABLE DISTANCE TO ELGIN.

Well, you could turn it into an overnight trip up to Ft Worth; spend the day at the stockyards, the evening at BillyBob's (family friendly), sleep over 1 night and head home the next day.

Best piece of "Old Texas" there is. If you don't like the driving..Amtrak goes to Ft Worth.

Didn't realize Coupland got so expensive...guess it's the price that comes with growth.

Gruene Hall is a lot closer than Ft. Worth. Oldest dance hall in Texas. Many nights are No Cover (but remember to tip the band!)

Broken Spoke often has dance lessons before the live music starts.

Broken Spoke has two step dance lessons from 8-9 Thursday - Saturday, taught by Teri White, owner James White's daughter. They are $8/person, plus whatever cover that night's band gets. If you don't want the lessons, then it is just the cover - usually around $6-8/person.

It is in South Austin, on South Lamar. Probably around 30 minutes from Elgin w/o traffic. A true Texas legend.

WOW ! That's a GOOD ONE !
We had, or 'have' planned on taking them to our favorite catfish place over on Hwy 46...... so this one will work perfect. Saves us from fighting the crowded I-35 that much ... since we are familiar with catfish place.
Over the years we have come back to Texas many times, and each visit to Fredericksburg (wife's , and family name) homeland, JUST HAD to go have our fill of their menue.

THANKS for the suggestion !!!!
