Default Chaparral Crossing?

I haven't actually been out to this neighborhood, but from the pictures online it looks very cute. It is in east Austin about 15 minutes from the airport & downtown. Does anyone know about this area/neighborhood? They have really cute homes starting at 90,000.

My husband and I are 23 and 24 and are currently renting in an 1 bedroom apartment in North Austin (Anderson Mill Rd/183 area). We love the location and our apartment, but we are paying 880 a month for a 840 sq ft apartment and garage rental. If we could own a HOUSE with more space for the same monthly cost, it seems like the better thing to do!

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Just watch out for the soils some areas east of town, potential foundation issues.

There are various areas now in Austin where prices have declined enough that you can buy a home and keep your payments to about the same as your apartment payment of $880/mo. You need to stay at $100K or below. The key for you at your current age is the financing. The more money that you can put down and the stronger your credit rating the better; those will be the keys to you buying a home in today's market.
