Assuming crime was non-existent and schools were better, what East Austin street(s) would you most like to live on?

Depends what you want. For a single family house, I would look at the Victorians in Swedish Hill - north of 12th, west of the cemetery - though it is now very pricey. For a condo, I like the lofts on 6th, opposite East Side Show Room and the Good Knight, though they are probably fairly noisy. My favorite East Side streets would be the ones with lake views - second stories on Willow and anything on Riverview. Also many streets on the hill around Houston-Tillotson have great downtown views. For a slightly more city feel - the first mile of East 11th east of 35 is pretty fabulous too. If you want quiet, and a rural feel, but within 2 miles of downtown, the area around Tillery is sweet.

Let me translate: "Basically, any street where white people are. Remember, there is strength in numbers!"

Try to stick to 78702. A great neighborhood that is up and coming is called Grandview Place. I have a home I listed for sale in there this week. Went pending sale in 3 days. Several newer construction homes in that area. If you want to be closer to I-35 - def. check out the condos like Este, Waller, and some of the others mentioned above.

Swedish Hill is awesome. Other than that there are some big "green" houses on Camacho St facing a big park with a lake in it.
