Default What kind of carpet should I install?

I'm replacing carpet in a few rooms to make my house more attractive to buyers. What style of carpet are buyers looking for these days?

Cut and loop. Low pile but soft and cuddly.

I read a lot of Design mags and I'd say either a neutral shag or a faux sisal.

Why? Is shag seriously coming back??? Ugh, I hated it then, and still do.

I love my Berber and recently replaced it with new Berber. Sorry it's not fashionable, but it wears well and looks good and I like it.

However, since I replaced it for me and not a prospective buyer, I wouldn't recommend it for resale. Frankly, carpet is such a personal thing, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it since a buyer may want to put their own it. I do agree a neutral, not too light would show best.

The realtors here advise, unless your carpet is really nasty, to give a flooring allowance instead.

These days, they call it frieze and it's just as 70s as shag. Traps dirt just as well, too.
