This is one of the better articles I have seen on what is happening with the job market here in Austin.

It is good to hear that engineering jobs is starting to pick up, as they pretty much have to proceed any recovery in construction jobs.

Quote:
Can private sector pick up slack as public jobs are cut?

Austin area facing harder hit from layoffs because of government-, eduction-heavy work force, but other businesses in region slowly recovering.

I'm really worried that this state budget shortfall is going to put a crimp in Texas' economic recovery. I know we fared pretty well through the downturn, but things have not been thriving and I have been looking forward to seeing things really heat up.
