I know this has been asked 100 times, but I am looking for a new hairstylist / colorist, preferably someone who is a little more mature (like 30+). Seems like all the ones that receive great reviews on other sites are all under 25 and don't have a ton of experience. They also don't seem to realize that my nearly-40-year-old-self doesn't really want a "trendy" (i.e. purple, spikey or streaky) hairstyle. I am also getting tired of listening to someone's roommate problems for 2 hours or about clubbing escapades, as I'm a little past those.

Thanks in advance.

Try Luca Salon on 41st St. I'm partial to Kelli but they are all excellent. (Edited because they have moved locations recently)

Monica, the owner of Urban Groove on S. MoPac and Stella Blue on S. Congress, is a great stylist. She is married, with children, and is extremely talented. She's very professional with no clubbing stories.

Shondi Pugh at Pearl Salon Pearl Hair & Make-up Studio - Pearl-Home-1
I have thick, wavy, hard to cut hair and she is the only person in this town I was able to find that does a good job for a reasonable price. Plus she is either just about 30 or north of that. No banal gossip.

Let me second this recommendation; my wife and I have been going to Katrina for years.

I second the Luca Salon recommendation. I see Kerri there and she is fantastic, but know several of the other stylists and they are great as well.
