Default Marble Falls or Canyon Lake

We are planning on retiring in the hill country and have narrowed our choices down to the Marble Falls area and Canyon Lake. I would like the opinion of those individuals familiar with these areas. We are especially interested in beautiful scenery (lake view desired), reasonable cost for real estate and low taxes. We are also concerned about crime rates and traffic (coming from Houston that is what we are trying to escape). Which area do you think would be better. Thank you.
