I've stumbled across some lot listings in a development called Overlook Estates. It appears to be near Thomas Springs at 71 (near SW Parkway). Does anyone know anything about this? I can't really seem to find anything.
Thank you

I know the area out near Circle Drive, which is nice rolling hills. It is a short drive from OakHill. I think the location has a lot going for it.

I found this Overlook Estates (http://overlookestatesaustin.com/ - broken link) The website advertises "flat building sites" which seems a little exaggerated for most of the sites given the topo lines on the plat image there. http://overlookestatesaustin.com/plat.pdf (broken link) But some probably have some nice views.

Thanks. Seems that's the only thing out there, except all the lots on mls. Is this a development, or just selling lots? Can't even tell from the maps if the roads are in?

That is out near the Austin Zoo. Looking at it in google maps satellite view, there is a gravel road but nothing else built. Even that section of Lenape Drive leading to it is a gravel road. I don't know how often Google Maps are updated, but they are usually fairly up to date in town.

It's not the best area. Most of the homes surrounding it are trailers and worn out old homes. While the lots might be nice, to me, it's not where I would want to be. They are selling lots, I think around 98 or so. Plus, if an animal escapes from the zoo, it will head right for your house, lol!

Default Overlook Estates in Oak Hill (parade of homes 2012)

I too have noticed this development and decided to drive out there to see what it was all about as well a do a little research and this is what I found out: It appears to be a new development where the parade of homes will be hosted this year. Those developers must have paid them big for that because the drive in and around the neighborhood was surround by trailer parks, mobile homes, abandoned buildings and tons of properties that serve as a resident as well as a business. As a mater of fact this land use to be a trailer park and the developers kicked them out. I think it is neat to for those to have their home as their business but as a neighbor I would be nervous about the extra traffic from both delivery trucks and the workers a business brings about.

While searching online I noticed the real estate companies keep talking about the areas private schools so it got me to thinking and wondering why? I decided to search on the Texas Sex Offenders site just to see what I would find and the site showed11 registered sex offenders within a 3-mile radius (see link below). YIKES!!!

Not sure who would spend this kind of money on a house in this area especially when most houses around are between $150,000-$250,000 and that is with acreage. Here is a link with a detailed profile from City data on the 78736 zip. http://www.city-data.com/zips/78736.html
