Anyone live in these neighborhoods? Do you like them? How far is the commute to downtown in rushhour? How about non-rushhour?

How about grocery shopping, gyms, etc. are they close by?

Well, we didn't choose a house in those areas, but looked at houses there......loved it! (The houses didn't work for us.)

Great areas......Lake Travis ISD is wonderful. And, you'd be close to a big HEB (grocery store,) and a Gold's Gym is nearby.

Lake Travis is close with all the fun stuff there, but not too far from downtown. It's still a drive though.......I'm about 6 mins. from downtown, and the Uplands is about 17 - 20 mins away.....w/o traffic. Don't know what it's like during rush hour, but hear Bee Cave Rd. (2244) isn't so great.

Jenn,

To clarify......I'm 6 mins. from DT and Uplands is another 17+ from where I live. So, Uplands and Lake Pointe are about 25 mins from DT under Ideal Conditions.

What the other poster said. And you have to remember that Bee Caves during rush hour is FAR from ideal conditions. This poster said in another thread that her husband wanted no more than a 30-40 minute commute, tops. There are parts of Eanes way out on Bee Caves where that's not realistic during rush hour. OP, you really need to come drive it. There's a reason prices go up the closer you come in to town. The traffic here can be a nightmare. Any chance your husband can commute during non-peak hours?

Yeah, there's the rub.

Early am on the weekend? Yes, you could get to downtown in 1/2 hour or less. But during rush hour on weekdays, Bee Cave Rd traveling from Uplands or Lake Pointe is sloooowwww. Part of the problem is that it is the only road out/in to so many neighborhoods along that corridor. I'm guessing it could be a good 40 min+ during rush hour?
But they are both great neighborhoods!

I agree with the above. One alternative for the Uplands though is to take the exit on SH71 instead of Bee Cave Rd. Then you could take SW Pkwy to downtown, likely to be faster. That stretch of SH71 is under construction right now to widen the bridge over Barton Creek but it will be finished later this year.
