This is our second "summer" here (Georgetown area) and already we've seen a lot more scorpions (and centipedes) than we did last year.

We have a pest control service, they are doing the perimeter spraying monthly, but we're still catching them in glue traps inside the doors, finding them in the garage or up on the pool deck.

Is it because it's so unusually hot and dry so early, or just bad luck?

Same here and we live in Georgetown as well. Last summer was our first summer here in Georgetown and I did not see any scorpions. So far this year we have found at least 6. Only one has been in the house, the rest have been in the garage. I am terrified of them!

The scorpions come out in this part of Texas, especially in weather like this (basically yes, the current weather pattern is making it worse. It wouldn't be unusual to find them in your bathtub looking for water)
