Hi all:

I have been doing some research about living in Austin for a while and loving everything I found out about it so far! I am just curious how many large (if any) financial services firms are there? What are the job prospects for a Sr. Financial Analyst (corporate finance/accounting, budgets, planning, forecasting etc.)?? I know there are many tech companies/jobs in Austin, but how about opportunities for Finance professionals?

I am originally from the Indian sub-continent and lived all over the Eastern belt (Miami to Boston) in the last 13 years that I have been in the U.S., I live in Richmond, VA right now (which I love) but the winters are just getting a little too cold for me and I am contemplating moving to a hotter area!! Long summer and the heat I don't mind (much) but it is the winter that bothers me the most , which is fairly mild in Austin from what I gather! Just researching job prospects at the moment!!

Please advise. Thanks and cheers!

Ron

I don't know much about those kinds of businesses, but you can research what companies there are here: The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce - Connect. Impact. Prosper.

And check out the numerous job resources here Tips for Seeking Employment in Austin

I know Atlanta has good opportunity in that field of work.
We laid off 3 off them recently and two went to Atlanta and the other I think is now working in finance @ Covert Ford.

I think ronyusa is still in Richmond(I could be wrong). Looks like he/she is spending a lot of time in the 'movies' forum. I don't know if you can DM as a new member, but that might be worth a try. Didn't look like much action in this thread originally.
